class=\"bde-rich-text-2-107 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>He has established his private practice at Mediclinic Nelspruit, where he provides a wide range of surgical services, from emergency care to elective general surgery, with a focus on patient-centred outcomes and minimally invasive techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Coetzee\u2019s passion for medicine began in childhood\u2014his mother often recalls how he went everywhere with a toy stethoscope, determined to become a doctor one day. Early in his medical studies, he gravitated toward surgery, drawn to the clarity and reward of the discipline. \u201cOf all the fields I\u2019ve worked in, surgery offers the most visible results,\u201d he says. \u201cYou often see an immediate improvement in a patient\u2019s life post-operatively, it\u2019s incredibly gratifying.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section><section class=\"bde-section-2-109 bde-section\">\n              \n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-container\"><div class=\"bde-div-2-127 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-div-2-128 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-rich-text-2-130 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>After matriculating with distinction from St Albans College in 2009, Dr Coetzee earned his MBChB from the University of Pretoria in 2015. He completed his internship at Ngwelezana Hospital, followed by community service and medical officer roles at Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital, where he gained broad exposure to trauma surgery, critical care, and surgical sepsis.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Dr Coetzee began his specialist training in General Surgery at King Edward VIII Hospital in Durban, completing his Fellowship of the College of Surgeons of South Africa (FCS SA) in 2023. He remained actively involved in registrar mentorship and academic duties, and later worked as a Medical Officer at Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Memorial Hospital, where his work extended to sub-specialist areas such as breast and endocrine surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, and colorectal procedures. His practical skills were complemented by additional training in laparoscopic suturing, endoscopy, and burns surgery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"bde-div-2-129 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section><section class=\"bde-section-2-131 bde-section\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"section-container\"><h5 class=\"bde-heading-2-135 bde-heading\">\nNow in private practice, Dr Coetzee aims to prioritise procedural excellence, patient safety, and ongoing learning. He is particularly passionate about enhancing his laparoscopic and endoscopic capabilities to offer less invasive options with faster recovery times.\n<\/h5><div class=\"bde-div-2-133 bde-div\">\n  \n  \n\t\n\n\n\n<div class=\"bde-rich-text-2-134 bde-rich-text breakdance-rich-text-styles\">\n<p>Outside of medicine, he is married and describes himself as an avid outdoor enthusiast. He enjoys hiking, fishing, scuba and free diving, and says that one of the reasons he relocated inland was to be closer to the bushveld and its sense of open space.<\/p>\n<p>With a well-rounded background in both public and academic settings, Dr Coetzee brings a calm, capable, and forward-thinking approach to his surgical practice at Mediclinic
